Making the Most of Your College Visits

Visiting a college is one of the most effective ways to determine whether it's right for you.  No matter how perfect a college may seem on paper or online, nothing compares to the impression you get when you're on campus.  Click here for a list of questions to ask and things to observe on a college visit.

To schedule a visit, contact the college to arrange a date and time.  Please let the office or Mrs. Hausmann know if you will be absent from school.  Seniors are allowed 2 absences for college visits.

Spring 2020 - Virtual Visits

This information was shared with high school students on April 8, 2020:

Hi Jays,

Did your plans to visit college campuses have to change this spring?  College admission departments are working hard to make sure you still can get all of the information you need and experience their campus.  College admission websites have a lot of great info, and many are offering virtual college visits.  Some colleges are even offering scholarships if you attend one of their virtual events (Briar Cliff is doing this - they said they are offering a $2,000 scholarship for completing a free virtual visit. Contact Karina at Karina.Pedroza@briarcliff.edu for details and to register).

To find the admissions page for any college, Google the college name + "admissions."

To find options for virtual visits, Google the college name + "admissions virtual visit" or "admissions virtual tour."  Some of these may be brief, recorded videos, while others are a full 3-hour visit and require registering ahead of time.  Most colleges also have a COVID-19 page where they explain what services/options they are providing to future students.

For more information, go to the admissions page and you typically can click on a link for "request information."  You can also find the admissions email address on that page and send any specific questions to them.  Admission departments are still working remotely, and want to hear from you!

Seniors - Some colleges are extending deadlines for fees.  Make sure you are reading the emails your college is sending you, and if you have questions, reach out to your admissions counselor.

If you need help finding visit options at a specific college, let me know!
