Diocese of Sioux City Scholarship Program

The Diocese of Sioux City Catholic & Gehlen Catholic School are pleased to again provide scholarships to qualifying families. The program provides expanded opportunities to help qualifying families afford the Catholic School of their choice. Scholarships are available to all families whose 2018 total income meets state eligibility guidelines.

Gehlen Catholic also has local funding to provide tuition assistance over & above the Diocesan Scholarship program thus providing supplementary tuition assistance. Our local assistance program is open to all locally qualifying families, not just those eligible for the Diocesan Scholarship program.

Per Gehlen Catholic’s School Board policy, to qualify for local assistance families must first submit an application & then complete a request for local assistance. Details will be available in May of 2019.

  • Both the Diocesan Scholarship program & Gehlen Catholic will utilize TADS Financial Aid Assessment Service again in 2019 to assist in determining the awards.

  • TADS has developed the application all families need to complete to be considered for assistance.

  • The application is available online at www.mytads.com & click on ‘Financial Aid Assessment’ to begin in both English & Spanish.

  • The application must be completed online.  A worksheet is available to assist you in completing your application.

  • You must include an electronic copy of current wage & tax information.

  • Gehlen Catholic urges you to complete the application & submit the required materials early to allow time for requests for additional materials.  Therefore, Gehlen Catholic recommends the TADS application to be completed by March 15, 2019.

  • The applications must be completely processed by April 1, 2019, in order for your family to be eligible to receive any scholarship assistance.

  • If you have a child at more than one Diocesan School, you will only need to complete 1 application form.

  • If divorced parents each pay a portion of the tuition bill, then each household needs to complete an application for a possible award towards their portion of tuition.

If you have questions during the application process:

  • Call TADS staff at 800-477-8237, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM Central Time.

  • TADS staff are also available through live chat on our website & email at support@tads.com.

  • Contact Mrs. Lisa Niebuhr in the Development Office at 712-546-4181 x237 or lniebuhr@gehlencatholic.org, especially if the processing fee is cost prohibitive for your family.

Award notification letters will be mailed on or before May 15, 2019. The complete timeline with specific information concerning the application is found below.
