Diocese of Sioux City Scholarship Program

The Diocese of Sioux City Catholic Schools Scholarship program and Gehlen Catholic School are pleased to once again provide tuition assistance to qualifying families. This program, supported by over 700 donors provides expanded opportunities to help qualifying families afford the Catholic School of their choice. Tuition assistance is available to all families whose 2017 total income meets state eligibility guidelines.

Gehlen Catholic also has local funding to provide tuition assistance over and above the Diocesan Scholarship program thus providing supplementary tuition assistance. Our local assistance program is open to all locally qualifying families, not just those eligible for the Diocesan Scholarship program. Per Gehlen Catholic’s School Board policy, to qualify for local assistance families must first submit an application and then complete a request for local assistance. Details will be available in May of 2018.

Both the Diocesan Scholarship program and Gehlen Catholic will be utilizing TADS Financial Aid Assessment Service to assist in determining the level of assistance to be awarded. TADS Financial Aid Assessment Service has developed an application that all families need to complete to be considered for assistance. Your personal information will be held in strictest confidence at all times. If you have a child at more than one Diocesan School, you will only need to complete one application form. If divorced parents each pay a portion of the tuition bill, then each household needs to complete an application for a possible award towards their portion of tuition.

The TADS application needs to be completed no later than March 15, 2018. The application is available online at www.mytads.com and click on ‘Financial Aid Assessment’ to begin in both English and Spanish. In addition to your completed application, you must include a copy of current wage and tax information. We urge you to complete the materials early to allow time for notification of any missing materials.

If you have questions during the application process, you may reach the TADS staff at 800-477-8237, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM Central Time. TADS staff are also available through live chat on our website and email at support@tads.com.

Gehlen Catholic is pleased to assist you with the application process. A brief video about how to begin the application process can be found on the left. Otherwise, you may contact Mrs. Lisa Niebuhr in the Development Office. She will be available Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or by appointment.

If you do not have Internet access to complete this application online, please contact Mrs. Niebuhr at 712-546-4181 x237 or lniebuhr@gehlencatholic.org. at the school for assistance. If the processing fee is cost prohibitive for your family, please contact Mrs. Niebuhr.

Award notification letters will be mailed on or before May 15, 2018. The complete timeline with specific information concerning the application is found below.

We strongly encourage every family to complete an application. The Diocesan Financial Scholarship coupled with our local tuition assistance program will be able to make Catholic Education affordable for all.

If you have questions about the assistance program, contact Mrs. Niebuhr at the school at 712-546-4181 x237 or lniebuhr@gehlencatholic.org. Contact the TADS call center at 1-866-441-4637 with specific questions about the application. This is a wonderful opportunity for qualifying families.
