Gehlen Catholic is blessed each year with a terrific student body! They receive numerous individual and group honors year after year thanks to their hard work and dedication, along with the support of their families andteachers/moderators.

2017-2018 School Year Highlights

• Congratulations to 5th grader Boston Nuebel whose D.A.R.E. t-shirt design adorns the Just Say No T-shirts this year.
• Congratulations to Josie Scheitler, Zach Kraft, Kaylee Linden, Dylan Lehmann, Easton Macklem and Aiden Spangler to have been selected for the OPUS (Grades 5-9) Honor Choir.
• Congratulations to Carlyn Bretey (4th year) for being selected for the All StateHonor Choir.
• Josie Scheitler was honored with 1st Place in Class III in the Iowa Poppy Poster contest. 
• Congratulations to the Lady Jays volleyball team who placed 2nd at State.
• Congratulations to Patricia Sitzmann who placed 1st at Sioux City Art Center's Juried Youth Art Exhibition.
• 2nd grade teacher Kim Wick was chosen to receive the Excellence in Education Award that was awarded at the Bishops Dinner in Sioux City.
• Congratulations to Anthony Vera, Tyler Zenk, and Jordan Larson for their selection to the Drake Honor Band.
• Congratulations to the Gehlen Dance Team who won 4th place in Lyrical and Kick at the State Dance competition!
• The Competition Marching Band received top honors again this year in Class 1A placing 1st at Dutchmen Field Championships,and a “I” rating at State.
• Congratulations to both the Triple Trio and Chamber Choir were named Best of Center at the State Solo/Ensemble contest. In addition to being chosen Best of their Center. 
• Congratulations to Sebastion Buman, Jordan Larson, Carter Sitzmann, Elliotte Herbst, and Kaitlyn Norfolk for being earning an All State Speech award. 

2016-17 School Year Highlights

• Congratulations to Katie Peters and Catalina Uribe for being selected for the All Tournament team at the CYO volleyball tournament.
• Congratulations to Zach Kraft (also a soloist), Easton Macklem, Dylan Lehmann, Josie Scheitler, Kaylee Linden, David Begnoche, and Aiden Spangler to have been selected for the OPUS Honor Choir.
• Congratulations to Carlyn Bretey (3rd year) and Chris Fuentes for being selected for the All State Honor Choir!
• The competition marching band received a "1" rating at State. The Gehlen color guard received the best color guard award in class 1A at the Dutchmen Field Championships.
• Congratulations to the Gehlen Dance team at State Dance! They received 5th place in Kick and 4th place in Lyrical!
• Congratulations to the 7th grade students that placed in the top 10 as a team in the Math Bee! Carson Sitzmann placed in the top 20 in the individual competition!
• Congratulations to Madison Schroeder, Kaleigh Ripley, and Atze Atsma who received Superior (1) ratings at the State Individual Speech contest!
