Cash Raffle to support Catholic Schools including Gehlen Catholic
Tickets are now on sale for the Cash Raffle to benefit Catholic schools in the Diocese of Sioux City. The $100 raffle tickets will be sold this fall to fund thousands of dollars in grants for each of the 15 school systems, including Gehlen Catholic.
Five cash prizes will be drawn Nov. 27, with the drawing live-streamed on the Diocese of Sioux City Facebook page. The top prize is $20,000, with two $10,000 prizes and two $5,000 prizes. Tickets can be purchased at the Gehlen Catholic School office until Wednesday, Nov. 20 or online at scdiocese.org/raffle.
Last year’s diocesan-wide raffle for schools offered a vehicle as the top prize. John Schmitz, diocesan director of stewardship and development, explained the Catholic Schools Foundation board of directors voted to offer a cash raffle for the 2024 raffle as cash is a prize that all participants could relate to and use.
“Also, with more prizes offered, there are additional chances for participants to win,” Schmitz added.
He stressed that the funds raised from the raffle return directly back to the schools through the Catholic Schools Foundation enhancement grant program. Schools receive funding from the raffle for numerous items including:
Student mental health and wellness
Professional development opportunities for educators and administrators
Technology support
Inclusive education
Marketing and recruitment support
Safe environment efforts
Gehlen Catholic received funding for English Language Learner (ELL), marketing recruitment, Safe Environment training, and technology support as a result of the Catholic Schools Foundation enhancement grants last year, which are being put into use for the upcoming academic year.
With the purchase of even one ticket, supporters can help our school obtain additional training and support to help us best serve our students,” said Amy Jungers, Development Director.
Supporters are encouraged to contact Amy Jungers to purchase a $100 Cash Raffle ticket. For more information or to purchase online, go to scdiocese.org/raffle.
